Birds and the Buzz

So we're driving home from school...and here's the conversation:
Levi: Mom were you born out of Nana?
Me: Yes
Levi: and Daddy was born out of Grandma silky?
Me: Yes
Levi: So how do you become a daddy if the girls are the ones helping babies get born?
Mason: You gotta marry someone, give 'em a ring and stuff ...then you can be a daddy
Levi: So I have to marry a girl?
Mason: yeah, if you wanna have any kind of life
Me: You don't have to get married to a girl to have a life, a lot of people are happy without getting married
Mason: yeah, well if you get married you should marry a girl
Levi: A girl?
Mason: yeah, cuz boys don't marry each other, right mom?
Me: well...it doesn't happen very often, but in some places guys can get married
Mason: well, it probably doesn't happen often because there would be a big fight
Me: a big fight?
Mason: yeah, a big fight over who has to be the wife!

Mason & Levi's House Rules
(December 2005 - 5 & 3 years old)

no talking about private parts
no touching someone else’s private parts (defined as parts that you use to go to the bathroom or those places you cover up with clothes when visitors come over)
no eating naked…underwear must be on
no running around glass stuff
no saying mean words
no talking mean to your parents
no arguing with your parents
ask for your parent’s permission to do do things that are bad for your teeth…like candy
no standing in chairs…sit on your bottom
don’t play with scissors or knives
don’t sneak candy
take off shoes when we come inside
put our coats in the closet
no whining about bedtime
no sneaking out of bed after you get tucked in
don’t sleep with a dad, brother, sister or mom when they are sick
don’t cough on people because you’ll spread germs
never say the word hate
you can clean your room even if your mom and dad don’t tell you to
no screaming in public
no touching things when you are in a store
no hitting, no kicking
don’t kill worms, they help the plants grow
no peeing or pooping on each other
no eating on the couch…eat in sunroom over your plate
do what mom says the first time she says it
clean up messes that you make
flush the toilet
wash your hands after you pee…and don’t lie about washing your hands
make sure your pee goes into the toilet and not on the wall
don’t throw things at your parents, especially in the car
don’t talk to strangers
no shaking naked booty at people
no opening the outside door by yourself
no drinking out of the milk jug…and don’t sneak it
no using karate on your little brother
don’t take stuff from your brother
no decorating walls with paint without permission
no jumping on couch
give hugs and kisses to each other when we leave
